WORD COUNT 000
TAGGED @lennart
NOTES - - - | SO: REALIZE YOU'RE ALIVE AND TEMPORARILY ENTER BSOD MODE. It wasn't like he minded being alive. In fact James, like any normal person, found the fact that he had avoided incineration by meteor a welcome surprise. However the sudden fall of darkness, followed by turtle-ghost undergoing a transformation, had managed to weird him out quite a bit. Right now the teen was less focused on finding out what had happened and more concerned in taking deep, slow breaths and trying (in vain) to convince himself that he was going to be fine.
After what seemed to be an age, he finally managed to piece together his impassive mask again and pick up his phone. Surprisingly he still had his internet connection, so he decided to get Lennart's input asap. SBURB it seemed played a bigger role in this than anything he could have suspected.
SO: okay i'm alive. SO: NOW IF SOMEBODY COULD TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED. SO: did the game cause the meteor? is the purpose of the game stopping them? SO: should i even dare to look out? it's kinda dark all of a sudden.
They were all good questions, but before he got around to dealing with them, James decided to take the most prudent course of action; grabbing some weapons.
Humming to himself nervously, he quickly made his way to his father's room- followed by his turtle-ghost-thing (he'd have to find a name for it soon). He really wasn't supposed to do this unless in cases of extreme emergency, but James figured his current situation called for it. Soon enough he had the familiar and comforting wait of a semi-automatic pistol in each hand, and felt relatively better. After all, his father had passed on lessons on how to shoot stuff up- purely in the interest of self-defense of course.
SO: and now i can shoot people...err enemies. SO: so i'm going to take a risk and peek outside.
Another deep breath followed, and James started moving up towards the roof.

NO: Process what just happened. |
{Show Post} Lennart stared at his screen. The timer he'd set on his phone was going off, but he paid it no mind. For several seconds, he'd been sure that he had been partially responsible for getting his friend killed. Yet at the last moment, when the glow from the meteor had lit up James' house as if it were Times Square, something had happened. The house was (amazingly) intact.
However, everything was now dark. The shadows cast by the furniture almost seemed alive. Len repressed a shiver and glanced at Pesterchum; James was now sending messages.
NO: You're not hurt or anything, right? NO: I don't know what happened. But hey, I do know that your house isn't a crater right now. And that's definitely good. NO: It does seem that Sburb caused the meteor. As for the purpose... maybe you're right. NO: But I think the philosophy can wait. There's more pressing matters to focus on.
He watched as James scampered about on his screen. It didn't take him very long to retrieve two pistols. Lennart, having never been a huge fan of firearms, frowned slightly. He reminded himself to find a weapon of his own soon; preferably some sort of blade.
NO: Exploring does sound like the thing to do. NO: But be careful. I'm getting the weird feeling that there's something else in that house.

WORD COUNT 000
TAGGED @lennart
NOTES - - - | SO: THROW A TEMPER TANTRUM AND SHOOT AT RANDOM TARGETS. Although James had received only vague answers from Lennart about his current condition, he hadn't quite reached the point of shooting away randomly. Besides, his dad would kill him if he ever found out.
SO: not hurt. SO: please try to discover a bit more about the game mechanics. SO: I'm going to explore the surroundings. SO: keep an eye out for meteors on your own end mate ^^
Before he continued on to the roof, he belted out a quick few messages to MC with the basics of the what he knew. Never quite good with explanations, and hardly knowing up from down in the game, the messages were a tad cryptic- but James hardly cared at this point. And indeed, once he got on to the roof and took in the view, the teenager was well beyond caring about what his least favorite internet acquaintance understood.
When he had entered his house it had been firmly rooted on the ground, with a few spare trees nearby and a dirt path from the nearest road cutting across grass meadows. Now he was smack on the edge of a freaking huge cliff and overlooking an eerie city. "Bloody hell." James muttered to himself, as he hastily uncaptchalogued his telescope to look around.
It was an overcast night, and the lack of light didn't help matters a bit, but he could make out the bare details of the city. The tall skyscrapers weren't made in the traditional sense- some carved out of granite, others obsidian and there was even shining crystal. And despite it's strange sort of charm- the fact that he couldn't see a living soul or even a simple animal, bird or plant anywhere made it pretty freaky.
SO: i don't think we're in kansas anymore len.
Slightly subdued now and not wanting to spend too much time outside in the unfamiliar area, James moved inside again and started working on his walkthrough again. The turtle-ghost thing was peering over his shoulder, still speaking absolute rubbish- and speaking of which...
SO: do you know any good turtle names? SO: and what's it supposed to be doing anyway?

NO: Consult the internet again. |
{Show Post} Though he was relieved that James didn't seem to be injured, the situation was still quite worrisome. Lennart had come to the conclusion that he might be able to help his friend if he got into the game himself. However, there wasn't time for that just yet.
The blond went back to his internet browser and skimmed some more player-made walkthroughs of Sburb. Several minutes later, he gave a frustrated sigh and gave his report via Pesterchum.
NO: No luck with getting more info online. NO: All of these guides are pretty terrible. NO: And none of them tell us anything new, either. The authors don't seem to have made it as far as us.
Well, that was ominous enough. Lennart watched as James took out a telescope on his screen. It took a while for the next line of cobalt text to appear. He cringed slightly at being called 'Len' (he'd always hated the name his parents gave him, and usually insisted upon being called 'Leo' or some other approved nickname).
NO: No kidding. NO: Dunno about the turtle thing. Here, maybe if I give it a poke, it'll stop bugging you?
He clicked on a Gandalf figurine and sent it hovering over towards the sprite. Then, after a slight hesitation, Lennart attempted to prod it.
NO: OOPS.
