If he’s feeling particularly high and lofty, expect him to become a genuine sesquipedalian. His typing style will vary according to how he wants to come across: he’ll take out capitals and forget punctuation if he wants to appear casual, throw in a few emotes if he wants to seem friendly, and so on. The one constant throughout, however, will always be perfect and proper spelling. [attr="class","kangaroo"]HISTORY [attr="class","kangaroos2"]Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Quinlivan and his big sister Ryanne lost their parents to an airplane crash when they were six and ten respectively. It had been an overseas business trip, and as usual the children had been left at a friend’s house for a week. The siblings had always been at half-affectionate, half-cutthroat odds with each other, but this all escalated to ridiculous heights once officials unearthed their father’s will. It was a sizable inheritance, to boot (even though, mysteriously, neither of them had ever seen any of it). When Ryanne came of age (eighteen), Quinn started concocting various schemes to scrawl her out of the picture so the inheritance would default to him. Ryanne managed to outmanoeuvre or luck-out of all of his plans, which ranged from forced matchmaking to staging an ‘accident’. Quinn became an expert micro-manager, since he had to balance school, a social life, and a part-time job along with all of this. Once Ryanne went to college, things simmered down a little, but Quinn made a vicious attempt at least once every year. His latest plot, this year’s, was trying to frame her for murder. She narrowly, narrowly avoided this one. As for the game? Well, Quinn likes to keep up with the latest anything to better insinuate himself among his ‘friends’. Being left to his own devices for four years has acted as a double-edged sword. Quinn has become starkly independent and full of self-esteem, but the latter has caused his self-confidence to rely heavily on his own abilities. Therefore, he stubbornly believes that his way is the best and only way, and everyone else is wrong by default, in order to maintain his pride. Quinn’s come to define himself by what goal he chooses to pursue (a very ‘journey is better than the destination’ type of guy), so he makes absolute use of his time. He plays pretend by himself to keep loneliness at bay (which usually works because Quinn absolutely adores anything he does), and sees making friends as a long-term game to play and a way of testing out his different personas. | [attr="class","kangaroo"]HOME [attr="class","kangaroos2"]Ryanne and Quinn’s relationship is strained at best, but the two still retain a deep, intense bond of siblingalry, because really, all they have in the world now is each other. It’s just buried under years of animosity and rivalry. With his sister off to college, Quinn has the South County Dublin house all to himself. It’s a 2 bedroom, terraced house with a private back garden, nestled in a peaceful cul de sac. When it was just the two of them, Ryanne moved out to sleep in their parents’ bedroom. The rooms are all colour-coded (to the point where they often referred to as, say, The Blue Room, instead of the second-floor bathroom), akin to the rooms of the abbey in The Masque of the Red Death. Quinn’s room is a muted red, and the property as a whole is kept in pristine condition, including the garden. In every room, there’s a tall, silver statue of a mythical animal of some sort: dragon – green/living room, phoenix – white/kitchen, sphinx – yellow/study, centaur – orange/Ryanne’s bedroom, mermaid – grey/first floor bathroom, harpy – blue/second floor bathroom, hydra – red/Quinn’s bedroom, Pegasus – purple/attic, unicorn – pink/basement. [attr="class","kangaroo"]SIDE QUEST [attr="class","kangaroos2"]LOCAK is a mountainous planet, with seas being practically non-existent. Valleys, small rivers, plateaus, and hills are everywhere, with large, steep mountains dominating the landscape wherever you look. Everything is rocky, with plant life only being found in clustered bunches near rivers or nestled in craggy nooks. Vertigo is dastardly common here, unless you’re used to it. Periodic earthquakes (courtesy of Atlas) cause small avalanches, and this coupled with the sheer cliff faces can be very dangerous indeed. There are four main settlements of skink consorts scattered throughout the planet, some on top of mountains, and they all seem to be on the brink of a civil war of some sort. Each settlement has accused all the others of stealing their village’s ‘heart’: a key to the chest each settlement keeps under tight wraps. Quinn must act as a diplomat and dissolve tensions before the whole planet erupts into a storm of flying rocks and impaled skinks. None of them are going to be happy unless their keys are returned, too. Rumour has it the denizen has something to do with that, since none of the skinks actually took any settlement’s key. Maybe they’re all just lost somewhere? |
