A country boy with as little book learning as he could get away with, he doesn't see the point in most punctuation or capitalization. At least none of the formal stuff. He also tends to speak very casually, cutting the g's off most ing words and using plenty of shortened phrases and simple language. Large words are lost on him, and he's not good at understanding or using them. Though he will try if he gets the inclination.

[attr="class","kangaroos2"]Chet has never known his parents. According to Pop-pop they had him and then something happened. He never told Chet what happened, and was never even so vague as to say whether it killed them or not. Just that something happened and they were gone. But, they were always gone. The first face Chet can remember is Pop-pop's. Honestly, sometimes Chet doubts he even had parents. You'd have to remember something, right?

Either way, Chet grew up in rural Texas. Always in the same house on the very outskirts of a small town. It was built by Pop-pop when he was still a "ripe young man in a brave new world", and it really shows. But, it's proved a comfy home. From the time he could toddle Chet did his best to explore it. He climbed stairs, explored attic space, and got more than enough splinters from old wood. As he grew older he would explore more of it, and also learn how to fix it as boards began to break under his feet and doors began to fall off hinges.

The other place Chet became acquainted with was the barn. A huge building that had always dwarfed Pop-pop's humble project, it housed dozens upon dozens of the finest cows and bulls. Milk and beef from the hoard of animals was their lively hood, and it took no time at all for Pop-pop to get him taking care of them. He carried feed out every morning at the crack of dawn, and after they'd eaten Chet was responsible for milking the dairy cows and checking the general health of all the livestock. Then he'd spend much of the rest of the day working the fields. He rode a tractor like it was a bike, and was second only to Pop-pop when it came to any kind of farm work.

Chet figured himself second only to Pop-pop in many things growing up. He looked up to the man with everything he had, and from a young age tried to emulate him in every way. He wanted to grow strong and bold, and so he focused on this in his daily life. In fact, he more than once skipped school so that he could get in more practice on the tractor, or do a bit more work moving hay bales. As a result he became a pretty simple boy. His emotions made his decisions and his gut fixed problems. He came to dislike fancy things and to dislike the people who owned them even more.

His raw emotions and energy lead Chet quite naturally to one item in particular in that old home's attic. A trumpet, old but still possessing a special gleam. A relic of Pop-pop's past, and a new challenge to tackle, Chet naturally brought it to his guardian in the hopes of learning to play it. He began playing when he was eight, and worked on it almost -- but not quite -- as often as he worked the barn and field. It's still a secondary passion for him, and another way to emulate his dear Pop-pop. He reads music better than any book.

Internet eventually became a part of Chet's home. It took awhile to convince Pop-pop to install wifi, but it was well worth it. Chet found himself meeting nice people over Pesterchum, and when SBURB came out he was easily recruited. It seemed a decent way to spend his free time, and a good way to show his city friends how good he could be with technology.

[attr="class","kangaroos2"]Chet lives on the outskirts of some middle-of-nowhere Texas town. It's just a humble home and farm, a wooden shack of a house overshadowed by a huge barn and acres upon acres of farmland. The former is home mostly to cows and bulls, the sources of the money he and his dear Pop-pop live off of. But, there are some horses that Chet really enjoys riding. Dear Pop-pop has taught him a lot, and Chet really values his insight and worldly knowledge. He looks up to the older man for both his strength and various skills, things he hopes to have when he gets a bit older. Not that he's not already fit as a fiddle and sharp as a tack!

[attr="class","kangaroos2"]LOSAS is a land of careful balance. Thunderstorms have always been a constant, and they've caused many things through their presence. Not only has it required creative work by the consorts, who have made the rainwater do everything from provide plumbing for their houses to keep their crops healthy, but it has also disrupted life and death itself. The two mingle, with strong bolts of lightening occasionally rousing the deceased and allowing them to wander the land above. They retain quite a bit of sentience, and their resilience has allowed them to claim the ground above, while the underground is occupied by the living. This balance was disrupted when Demeter -- a fierce beast with control over nature -- increased the intensity of the storms and killed the growing crops the consorts kept. The rain flooded much of the land and ruined the various instruments the consorts had used to survive, and the curse Demter laid upon the crops kept them dead and any new ones from growing. Not only that, but the return of harsh sunlight and the loss of the life giving lightening have both caused the dead to rot and those buried to remain dead. It is Chet's job to either reason with or kill Demeter so that he may bring back the balance LOSAS requires before the remaining consorts die or destroy one another.
