After a subsequent session of crying and all of that, Zoey was calm enough to get back to her preferred state, calm. She preferred being calm, with no real emotion influencing her actions. It was a state of mind without chaos and it kept her from being hurt with someone ruining it. If there was nothing, then no one could destroy it. Because Azazel, who was once an angel in her life, managed to destroy everything in her life once before. The one gram that weighed everything to go to shit.AC: Okay, I'm good now Cia. AC: It must be hard to listen to all my dumb complaints about life >.< I'm really sorry about that. AC: But I'm read to go now! AC: Do you have your IP address so I can connect? AC: There is literally so many people on this list to choose from. Her chair required a towel so that she could sit on it again, from being tossed in the rain from her previous breakdown. She sat with crossed legs, her skirt covering her feet as she typed calmly on her computer. Mrs. Hudson had brought her some cookies earlier, which helped to calm her down. She continued eating cookies, and switching between apple juice and water. The game was definitely beginning. "Meteors huh. Well I've seen it before," she said to herself.

The game had downloaded easily enough, although the actual downloading had taken a while. Lucia closed down the Pesterchum window containing her latest conversation with her friends before clicking on the blinking, minimized one for Zoey's. She had her orange-cinnamon tea -- a replacement for her usual lemon, she'd never understand her grandmother, ever --, her chemistry kit on hand in case she needed to threaten someone, and her iPod and books; she was ready.
RS: no, no, it's fine. i don't mind. feel free to rant at me any time zoe <3 RS: on another note, my ip address should be 69.255.144. is it coming up?
There had been a few problems with the others so far in actually creating the client-server connection, apparently. Lucia hoped that there wouldn't be anything like that with her and Zoey; they could do without the trouble, especially with all of the drama among their out-of-game friend group had just had.
"At least Azazel's not my partner." That was a blessing. The entire link would have been just... bad. She sighed and picked up one of the physics textbooks lying around on her floor while waiting for Zoey to respond.

Shortly after being told Lucia's IP address, Zoey found it easy to see Lucia on the list of potential clients. It was finally their turn to make it in the game, with all her emotional turmoil going on, she felt that the meteors were only a minor thing going on. She kept her screen neatly organized. Promptly hitting the button to connect to Cia, she felt proud. There was finally some progress on this game! With all the feeling inducing conversations, this had been put off a lot. In fact, Zoey felt like she would be crushed to death by a meteor at this rate. AC: Okay I think I'm connecting to you. Accept me o k .3. ^^ AC: Hopefully this works, I don't feel like dying. AC: Though for some reason I wouldn't be too upset, I mean right now the thought of getting crushed doesn't seem TOO bad. AC: I hope we get this show on the move though umu AC: I didn't accidentally request a different person right? She looked around in London. There was definitely fire. But she was still on her houseboat, slightly hoping to not die today, and on her computer.

A prompt chimed itself into her awareness on her screen, and Lucia bookmarked her book at the page where she'd stopped and turned to look at it. It was Zoey's request to connect all right, and she hit the enter key quickly and watched the loading screen with amusement. A spirograph, really? At least it was green and interesting.
She skimmed through Zoey's Pesterchum message, eyes caught on the pink text, and smiled a little, the edge having a bitter twist to it. Her grandmother was who-knew-where doing who-knew-what, and her own window was framing the chaos outside -- red skies and panicked citizens running around and diving for cover. It was with a sigh that she stood up and closed the curtains before returning back to her computer screen. She didn't want to be reminded of their possible impending doom, thank you very much.
RS: of course, zoey. the connection's been accepted by me. RS: and no one feels like dying, ever. especially not by meteor strike. RS: unless you're an idiot who doesn't /mind/ dying.
She sipped at her orange-cinnamon tea and wondered if she'd ever get Killi's promised lemon tea, now. Probably not. A thought occurred to her and she typed into her Pesterchum window with Zoey quickly, still managing to type correctly even though she was hurrying.
RS: on the topic of dying, though. RS: have you allocated anything to your strife specibus yet? RS: i'd think now would be a good time to, whatwith our lives being threatened and all.
It would be a good idea for all of them to do so, now that they knew what was coming. Lucia knew what she was going to use -- there was no problem that could not be solved with the proper application of explosions, after all -- but she waited with growing anxiousness both for the meteors and Zoey's answer.

The pigeons were everywhere. They flew about because the streets had people panicking in them. She needed to get in the game, that's what she needed to do. But right now it was Lucia's turn, the meteor heading for her would hit sooner than her own, so she needed to get Lucia in the game. Zoey took a deep breath, hopefully this server stuff wouldn't be so hard. "Okay Zoey, let's do this," she said to herself. Suddenly on her screen there was, Lucia? Strange, it looked like it was her room, and in real life too. There was a menu on top of her screen, and her mouse was some strange cursor that looked a bit like a house. AC: Cia, you were Gene's server right? I'm looking at your house, at it looks like, with this strange top menu and a house-cursor.
AC: This is how the game is supposed to be, correct :?
AC: I think I'll use this umbrella as my strife specibus. It's not the best, but It's long enough to work as a lance with the pointy spike
AC: My dad sharpened it in case any pigeons ever wanted to sit on it. It could work for now. Maybe later I'll be able to get one of my dad's guns.
AC: He keeps them locked up so I can't get to them right now. What's your strife specibus again?
AC: Also, moving inside, getting too fiery and loud out here >.<
She carefully closed the giant umbrella from her terrace table, tucking it under her arm. With her upper arm keeping it with her, she used her hands to carry her computer, with the mouse resting on top of the keyboard. There was no need to worry about it accidentally doing anything, she minimized all her windows and unplugged the mouse for now. All there was no was to get inside and to the living room. If Zoey sat on the floor then putting the laptop on the coffee table would make for a comfortable posture for typing and escaping the world. LAIKA OF GS!

From servering Gene, she knew what was going to happen. She knew how Zoey would have to do it. It didn't make it any less disturbing when she saw her friend's pink text proclaiming her own room under the damn house-cursor that signified the start of the actual entry. Why in the world had they decided to play this game again? RS: i have explosives set as my strife specibus; my mother left plenty of informational texts around and having a physics father is really just encouraging it. RS: that's right zoey, that's it. RS: you need to deploy the cruxtruder, totem lathe, alchemiter and pre-punched card, in that order. RS: i can't access it, the server has to. you have to create it. RS: there is a reason that no one's posted anything about this game yet, i think. A deep breath in. Out. They'd already gotten six people into this hellhole of a game so far, and she had faith in Zoey. She did. She tried to take another sip of tea before realizing that she'd finished it already. Oh. Had she been drinking it the entire time without realizing? That was worrying. Lucia carefully put the mug down before slipping her chemistry set into her sylladex where it lay with her strife specibus before the modus shuffled itself. She was glad that she was one of the later players, now; it helped to know what to expect, since Skaianet was apparently out for their blood. RS: you're going inside? stay in your room if you do. RS: close the windows and the doors, but i'm sure you knew that already. RS: just stay in one place with a lot of space to make it easier for your server. RS: my room should be big enough for everything except for the alchemiter, i think. RS: we'll move out into the hallway for that one. | tagged ZOEY LOYOLA oh hey pretty bad so let me know if you want me to edit? >.< |

After Lucia mentioned where to put different...things, Zoey took a look around her own boat. Two floors of a literal floating mansion. There was surely enough space to put everything for her own time with a server, which would probably be Gio by the time she was finished with Lucia. Okay, right now she had to dedicated everything to her. This was the time to give her all for Lucia like she always tried to. Zoey patted the cheeks of her face, to focus once more. Her hand gripped her mouse tightly along the sides, exploring the new menu. First she was to get the cruxtruder, it had a weird shape that did not look like any other machines that she had seen in real life. Lucia new her business though, everyone else had done it, so she could do it too! It was for Lucia! Putting it down on the floor of her room was much easier than she thought it would be. It was on a space that didn't look to have much mess. From looking at the machines in the menu she already started to come up with a layout for everything that should give Lucia enough room to move about comfortably, save for the alchemizer which would be going out in the hallway. Her house was a strange sight to see from her computer still, but Zoey was trying her very very best not to think about the curious game play and more about the survival of her group. AC: Okay, cruxtruder is in, as you can see.Quickly she put the totem lathe in a different place, not too hard at all. AC: So is the totem lathe! AC: It didn't take up any of this 'grist' stuff, so these are the free things?Even from inside with the windows shut she could hear things going outside. Who was the last player to get in again? It would be utter hell around them. LAIKA OF GS!

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick. Oh hey, the sound was back again. Lucia had thought that she'd gotten rid of it. Had celebrated the madness of a clock's ticking gone from her head. Too early to cheer, it seemed. She clutched the edge of her table tightly, and watched her fingertips growing red in fascination. tick tock tICK TOCK TICK The sound was growing more and more agitated. She gritted her teeth and debated reaching for her iPod, if only to make the sound go away. Decided against it. She could win against a sound. She could. She would. The pink text flashing on her screen brought her out of her inner scrambling. So did the giant objects landing in cleared spots in her room, the cruxtruder and the totem lathe arriving without trouble. She unclenched her fingers from her desk, shakily moved her hands to the keyboard. Set fingertips to keys. Type normally. tick tock TICK TOCK TICK TOCK RS: that's right. RS: it didn't take any grist because skaianet gives it to you for free. RS: anything other than the starter objects will take grist. we need to be careful of that. RS: i'll move to the door so you can put the alchemiter in the hallway. taking the laptop with me. She managed to get up without collapsing, although she was weak at the knees. Ha. Weak. Time was moving too slow. She was used to that; people were often late on her, after all, even if she told them time and time again (ha. time and time again -- time doesn't repeat ITSELF) to be early, to be on time. Time haunted her; clocks haunted her; she got up, picked up her laptop and walked (stumbled) to the door, giving Zoe-zoe access to the hallway. Lucia knew what would happen -- not only because she had talked to those who'd gone before, but because she knew Time. Knew it like the back of her hand (and oh didn't she hope that she didn't) TICK TOCK TICK TOCK TICK TOCK RS: i need to open the cruxtruder after this. RS: zoe, have a sturdy object on hand. RS: preferably a crowbar. RS: you're going to need it. That was her, wasn't it, helping others while she herself was on the verge of collapsing ( did collapse against the doorframe, pulled up her knees to settle her laptop on them) from a sound in her head.Breathe.TICK. TOCK.

Zoey could see that Lucia was not okay at the moment. How could she stop it? She had already found out about how clicking on the client wouldn't do anything, so there wasn't anything she could do by patting Lucia with the mouse, that would only be annoying at most. It was most probable. First of all, she got down to business. After that concern was taken care of she could get to patting Lucia intensely through pesterchum as best as she could to console her. Did it have to do with the world? The meteors were already arriving, who could blame anyone for being afraid or having anxiety if they have the game. Would anyone not playing the game survive? The alchemiter plopped in the hallway only a few steps away from Lucia. Okay, that was taken care of. It would be best to calm her worries about getting a crowbar as well, for whatever reason she requested her to get one for. A pre-punched card also READY plopped down, waiting silently in the menu of free AC: Okay, I'll go get a crowbar.
AC: You just take a moment to get the air you need and everything, okay?
AC: Don't worry, we'll be safe!
AC: I'll be right back to do more server things!
She quickly rushed away from her lap top, setting her water bottle on the table with the lid most definitely closed calmly before she did. Zoey proceeded to run down two sets of stairs with the utmost focus as to not fall. And while she scampered she checked to see if all the windows were closed, they were. The tide wasn't affected from the meteors yet, thank goodness. It would be harder to do stuff with a rocking boat. She knew where the tools were kept so it didn't take long to rummage through the disgusting smell of metal to grab a dirty crowbar. After washing her hands, rushing up stairs, and plopping down in front of her laptop once again with crowbar safe in fetch modus: AC: Okay, got a crowbar uwu.
AC: What's the reason?
AC: Also, are you okay now?
AC: We have enough time for you to take a break if you need one .o.
AC: Oh, and should I put in the pre-punched card yet?

The Alchemiter thudded onto the floor. The hardwood underneath creaked a little, although it didn't fall through, thankfully. The house was fairly new, Lucia didn't expect otherwise. Not that she really saw it -- she was mostly occupied in trying to tune out Earth's time limit ticking down from her head. Tick, tock. Pink text flashing on her screen brought her out of it. ...No. No, no, no, no, no. That was wrong. Her fingers fairly flew over the keys in her haste to correct dear Zoey before she did something that she couldn't go back in Time and fix. Something irreparable. She refused to let this be the doomed timeline.RS: i'm fine, don't worry about me. RS: it's all stuff i've dealt with before -- nothing new. RS: but /you're/ the one who'll need the crowbar later, for your own entry. RS: you'll need to open to Cruxtruder to get to the Kernelsprite. RS: the pre-punched card is for later, after you grab the cruxite from the Cruxtruder and you stuff both into the totem lathe. RS: here, i'll demonstrate for you. Lucia plucked her laptop from her knees and strode to her desk before she set it on top of it and turned to face the (music) Cruxtruder. Tick, tock. She couldn't use explosives for this, she did want her house intact after they got into the Medium, after all. Instead she opted to kick the Cruxtruder's lid open instead with a flying roundhouse kick, landing on the balls of her feet and catching the emerald cruxite before it could fall to the ground. The Kernelsprite she let hang around for the moment while she pestered Zoey again, intent on explaining what would be going on the other's screen. Tick. Tock.RS: see that floating emerald spirograph sphere? that's the Kernelsprite. you need to prototype it once before entering the game. RS: to prototype it, just throw something at it, preferably a pet or a dead relative. nothing that might be dangerous later on. RS: after that, you need to get the cruxite artifact. that's where the pre-punched card comes in. RS: can you get that for me, please? Keeping her hands and mind busy seemed to do the trick with tuning out Earth's counter going down. Tick, tock. Or not. Lucia grabbed her moose pillowpet that she'd gotten for a Christmas present from her rather eccentric grandmother and tossed it at the Kernelsprite, watching it change form as she waited for Zoey's end of the server-client connection.

Zoey watched with focus, taking mental notes for when her own time to be a client. Even though all of these things had such dumb names like Kernelsprite, they sure had a deep use. Perhaps later, when the immediate, falling thread had quieted down she would find her answers. Her world was ending, that was it. Zoey would never be the queen of anything here, maybe later. Her mind was amazing at remembering what had happened in life, she was good at remembering. Zoey would be able to do this, she knew she would. She was Zoey Loyola. She had to be the best. And it wouldn't stop now. Her hand calmly clicked and unclicked, letting a pre-punched card fall just beside the totem lathe, which she remembered from her friend's tips that it was needed to be put in there. It lay silently, what would it look like when the next process happened? AC: Okay, pre-punched card is next to the Totem Lathe .3. ! AC: I'm still going to worry about you, but I'll make sure you're safer in the Medium first uwu. AC: I'll make sure not to make my sprite anything that could be dangerous too! AC: So those are all we need for getting in the medium, right?
The kernelsprite was actually quite fascinating. How would she study hers when it came to be? And, also when she was not around Earth anymore. London was in quite a panic, but the docks were mostly alright due to not many people being there. Still, Zoey could hear the screams of both people and animal through the air, with fires alive with burning happiness. If it was not so deadly, perhaps she would find fire beautiful. But right now, it was burning her city right to the ground. Hers. There was going to be a new episode of her favorite anime in two days. It was all very tragic, really. So many things would not be accomplished or finished. Zoey was looking forward to going to college. Her fingers tapped lightly against the keyboard, all she did was watch Lucia for right now. She hummed a tune to her favorite song, something that she couldn't remember the title of, actually. Eh, the title would come back eventually. There was no need to remember it. Like the universe, the mind works in fascinating ways. LAIKA OF GS!

The Kernelsprite absorbed the offered moose plushie, morphing in a mass of green light into an emerald-colored Moosesprite. Lucia had tossed the stuffed thing in without hesitance, but the sight of an actual moose-form sprite stilled her for a bit. Enough time for the ticking in her head to gain prevalence again. Tick tock, tick tock, we're aiming for the top~ The pre-punched card's appearance snapped her out of it, though. Good ol' Zoey. The pre-punched card landed next to the Totem Lathe, sitting there for the moment that it took Lucia to cross her room and grab it from the floor. The emerald dowel of cruxite was in her other hand, ready for alchemizing. Hopefully this wouldn't go over too badly. RS: ...alright. fine. i'll accept that. for now. RS: and yes, you need all of this for entry. RS: you use the pre-punched card and the totem lathe to carve the cruxite dowel you get from opening the cruxtruder, then place that onto the alchemiter. RS: everyone's cruxite artifact -- the resulting object -- is different. it's related to your position within the game, we believe. RS: and the sprite is -- well. it can explain for itself, i think. Moosesprite was trying to talk to her, but they didn't speak the same language, so it was somewhat of a hassle. Lucia ignored the floating moose-headed green sprite for the moment and went for the totem lathe instead. Tick, tock, 24:19 left! The countdown on the cruxtruder had been running, and she saw the timer as she walked past it. The meteor would be arriving soon. Need to get a move on.Slotting the dowel of cruxite into the Totem Lathe and then placing it on the Alchemiter was easy. Seeing it grow into an emerald clock wasn't. Even more so when she realized it was broken -- which was a relief, actually, the only thing so far in her life that didn't go tick toCK GOES the clock on her -- and she'd have to fix it. Let Time go on. The missing gear that would set the entire thing into motion sat a foot away from the clock's seconds arrow, and Lucia picked it up. Settled it into her palm. Logically she knew it was necessary (the game was built to challenge, after all) but she couldn't bring herself to fix it. It wasn't the Time thing that was even the problem, really. The body-less Moosesprite nudged her clenched hand containing the gear. She ignored it to send a Pesterchum message. RS: well. that was a "how to enter the medium guide" by lucia ridgeview, with live demonstrations every lifetime. RS: but basically, all the server needs to do before entering the game for the client player is to deploy the four objects -- the cruxtruder, totem lathe, alchemiter, and the pre-punched card -- to use. RS: after that, the server isn't really needed until everyone is in the game. RS: you should start preparing for your own entry, although if you want to stay on the line with me that's fine. RS: i don't mind either way.

Really this game was quite a miracle. It was doing what no other game had done and brought the fate of the real world into its spiral of plot and change. As of the moment Zoey was fully realizing just how much would change and disappear. However, she could not take it all in. Realizing that her college application wouldn't matter, that she would never have another dentist appointment, the sequels she was so look forward too wouldn't come out, that was for later. Now that Lucia's entry was more or less finished Zoey had to get to work on her own. People were starting to come to the harbor, as if it would help against the impending doom. Of course she cared about them, but she had to take care of herself too. And of course, she felt guilty about it. But there was almost nothing to do for hundreds of people. So, machines, sprite that wasn't dangerous, she understood. Explaining what to do for her server would be easy now that she herself had done it. Actually, it was quite easy. It was just like a simple game actually. AC: Okay, understood uwu AC: People are starting to come to the harbors, I better start working on my own entry. AC: But if you need anything from me just message me :OO! AC: See you in that medium thing though, however that works :S AC: And good luck <3 <3Zoey stopped messaging, there was a knock at her door. It was hard, desperate, but it stopped after a while. Zoey was worried, no one would take the time to bust in, right? She had to rely on that. There were many people with their own games. There was still more chaos outside though. After looking through and responding to her pesterlogs she went to the window. Peeking through the blinds, there weren't that many in the harbor, there were some police though. They must have been the ones to knock earlier, make sure that no one was in. But she was. Zoey was going to live. A giant explosion from the horizon gleamed in her eyes. Yep, she better get started. LAIKA OF GS!
